What is it? A vacuum pump and cork system used to seal a wine bottle.
This product is used to preserve an unfinished bottle of wine. Wine exposed to the air will oxidize over time—at first a good thing, letting it “breathe” and open up—but over a prolonged period of time it ruins it. So if you have a half-finished bottle of wine, and don’t want it to go bad so you can enjoy it later, the answer is to remove the air from the bottle. That’s what this product does.
The product consists of two parts: a rubber cork with a one-way valve (product includes two corks) and a pump. The pump is pressure sensitive such that when a proper vacuum has been achieved, it makes a distinct clicking sound to alert you that you’re finished. In our evaluation (see video), the cork held secure after the vacuum was achieved.
When you are ready to remove the cork again, there is a small nub on the top of it that simply needs to be tipped to one side, which opens the value and releases the vacuum, letting in air again. The cork can then be easily removed. That’s all there is to it.
We observed this product to work as advertised.
